Race Prep RTF 214 - Running Movies for Inspiration

RTF (Radio-Television-Film) 214 is a recommended elective for runners preparing for an upcoming race. For inspiration and focus for your running, pop in a good running movie in the DVR/VCR.

There is lots of information on the web about running and/or sports related movies. This is just one site that I like.

What are some of your favorites? I've only seen a few...

Oh, are you kidding:
Released back in March, but just released on DVD (Netflix, BlockBastard, Amazon, ...), Jeff Bezos has just sent me my pre-ordered copy of the most recent marathon movie around.
The latest Simon Pegg-franchise movie "Run, Fat Boy, Run" an anti-hero/underdog marathon themed Brit-rom-com movie is irreverent ("He runs marathons". "Why?" "Exactly!"), romantic (does he get the girl?) and pretty funny (forewarned: look away from the blister-scene! "That was the second most disgusting fluid I've ever had in my eye.")

The movie is good, I think, I liked it. It is not quite a Simon Pegg creation -- he took an existing Michael Black (who?) script and anglicized it to make it look like a Simon Pegg creation a la Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz or Spaced. Despite being directed by that Schwimmer idiot it has turned out pretty good, light, funny. And it's got some great marathon-y specific bits as well as using the "Nike Marathon" (albeit the ficticious Nike London Marathon) as the backdrop.

Well, ok, it isn't quite the "inspiration and focus" movie you were looking for, but a marathon-themed light relief :)
